3. What do you think Mr. Roberts is going to do when Ian reveals that the company that makes the school uniforms is one of the worlds worst offenders for Children's rights and child labour?
1. Why is Ian rushing with Oswald to Mr. Roberts before telling Julia?
ReplyDeleteIan is rushing with Oswald to tell Mr. Roberts before Julia for a good reason. If Julia had known the symbol and where the company stands child labor wise she would be in a outrage and cause her to go ballistic. Because this would be the fuel she needs to really start revving up and start rebelling against uniforms again. This would be her next plan on how to get students to be against uniforms too, the child labor issue with the uniforms.
Also if they talk to Mr.Roberts first he would acknowledge it and since he teaches social justice he might be able to do something about it before Julia gets out of control.
I do agree with you on Julia going on an outrage but she is already going against the uniform and will not stop. She will probably forget about the plans maybe and just go straight to the principal. Other than that I agree fully to your opinion.
DeleteWhats wrong with Julia being outraged and making a stand?
DeleteShe could get into big trouble since in the text around the start of the book, Oswald had to take a punishment for not handing in an assignment. Just that little assignment. So Julia could potentially be in big trouble.

ReplyDelete2. Is it a good idea for Ian to not tell Julia about the symbol in the coat pocket?
3. What do you think Mr. Roberts is going to do when Ian reveals that the company that makes the school uniforms is one of the worlds worst offenders for Children's rights and child labour?
1- Ian is rushing with Oswald to Mr. Roberts before telling Julia because he knows that she would make a fuss about it. Julia would probably complain even MORE and she will probably go nuts after this trying to stop uniforms. If Julia knows what is happening then she should just go crazy since all of her work/research is just wasted.
2- I think it is a good idea to tell Julia because other than her going to go nuts and complain asap it would be nice to let her know because she is the only one who decided to take action to stop uniforms other than the others because in the text it says that out of all students she was the only one who decides to take physical action (like actually plan something instead of doing nothing). Due to her taking a lot of action it would be nice to let her know because the uniforms could finally be stopped.
3- Mr. Roberts is a man of his words and he is sticking with his choice of uniforms but I think that he would take it into consideration and remove the uniforms. Due to what Julia has researched and the child labor thing he would unlikely though, change his mind. There is a chance of it happening but just unlikely since he absolutely loves the uniforms. If the child labor thing came he would know what is happening to the uniforms and he may be able to stop it.
What is wrong with Julia going crazy and making a fuss...these are uniforms made by kids for pennies...shouldn't we be in a fuss
DeleteJulia is making a fuss since she is trying to stand up for the other kids in her school who are against uniforms AND if she found out about the child labor thing, she would be helping to stand up for the kids
DeleteI don't really understand how that's wrong....
2. Is it a good idea for Ian to not tell Julia about the symbol in the coat pocket?
ReplyDeleteI think that it is a good idea that Ian isn't telling Julia. I say this because of the possible outcomes with telling Julia. For one she is angry at the fact they have to get uniforms with no warning, and on top of that the person who she expected to help was ok with it ( Ian ) and had a argument making her mood even more sour. So telling Julia this will either fuel her rage even or make her happy at fact she has a plan to get rid of the uniforms.
Either way Julia would be planning something which would not be good. She might try getting others involved at because of who makes the uniform which would just cause trouble all around.
For the last sentence I disagree. If she is planning to get everyone else to be involved in which it would cause trouble all around so then Ian and Oswald should tell her. Also around the end of your first paragraph you said that telling her would either make her raged or happy. There is a chance for happiness so you should have explained a bit more on why not to tell her.

Delete1) Ian was rushing with Oswald to Mr. Roberts without telling Julia because he thinks that she will go insane and will just charge at Mr. Roberts without thinking it through. As much of what we know about Julia, she is fully against the uniforms and would do anything to stop them. If Julia found this evidence that the uniforms the school is bringing are made by the company that has sweatshops and child labor, then she would tell everybody in the school and other adults which would create a huge mess. Ian knows that this will happen which is why he is intelligent enough to not tell Julia and just quickly go to Mr. Roberts and inform him about this.
ReplyDeleteJulia has already thought most of it through. She is still in progress of making a plan and she already has many counter options to all of the positives Robert said. Also if Julia tells everyone in the school and parents go all crazy and complain, it would be sort of good since everyone would be against the uniforms and parents would complain too much maybe some students would actually leave and Mr.Roberts would be forced to remove the uniforms. Another thing is where would it say that Ian knows Julia would go nuts?
DeleteWell is Julia tells everybody then Mr. Roberts would get annoyed and would probably end the discussion. In the text when Oswald talked about telling Julia, Ian said, "She would go over the hedge."
DeleteIts a mess to know the truth about the uniforms?
DeleteNo what I am saying is that if people know the truth then people will start doing random activities which might annoy Mr. Roberts which might affect how this discussion about uniforms ends.
DeleteAs always I found another mistake. What is so wrong with the students doing random activities and annoying Mr.Roberts? How would Mr.Roberts get annoyed and WHY would the students do random activities in the first place?
DeleteWhy are so sure that Julia would tell the whole school about the uniforms? She might just finish the case with mr.roberts without the whole school knowing.
Delete1-ian did not tell Julia first because she would have a big reason to hate uniform and have a good reason to get everyone else to hate it to and she would have a very strong argument against uniform she will turn it into a big deal
ReplyDeleteYou need to give more detail.
DeleteShe already has a big reason to hate uniforms and everyone already hates it. Explain A LOT MORE because I did not really see anything other than one sentence of nothing.
Deleteits bad to give Julia a solid reason to protest the uniforms?
DeleteNot only Julia hates uniforms but almost the whole school does. You need to give more detail to clear out your answer.
Delete3. What do you think Mr. Roberts is going to do when Ian reveals that the company that makes the school uniforms is one of the worlds worst offenders for children's rights and child labour?
ReplyDeleteWell I think Mr.Roberts might just abandon the idea of uniforms after this, or just buy uniforms from another brand that might not be as controversial. However the reason I suggested he might just abandon uniforms in general is because he teaches social justice so he should understand whats happening just to get the uniforms.
He would get that getting the uniforms is the complete opposite of what you should do to rival infamous brands for child labour which is not buying from said brands.
it was a good idea because then if she douse not know then she cant make a big deal out of it
ReplyDeleteYou need to have more details so that you can support your opinion and you have to make your answer more clear. It doesn't really make a lot of sense since you never had a clear opening statement.
Delete1. I think Ian is rushing with Oswald to mr.roberts before telling Julia because he knows that the logo is a company of the worlds worst offenders for children's rights and child labour. So Ian wants to tell mr.Roberts and not Julia because if he tells Julia she will have a really good reason to why they shouldn't have uniforms, and Julia might think that Ian is lying because she was really mad at him because he was okay with the idea of everyone wearing uniforms. Ian thinks that he should tell mr.Roberts before Julia because mr.Roberts might do something about it! If he tells Julia she's going to make a big plan and then have him and Oswald involved in it.
ReplyDeleteWhy is Ian rushing with Oswald to Mr.Roberts before telling Julia?
ReplyDeleteI think Ian is rushing to Mr.Roberts with Oswald because if he tell Julia first she will think of an insane idea like to boycott the uniforms because they are made using child labour But if he tells Mr.Roberts first there will be less commotion, he might also take the uniforms away faster if he finds out they are made using child labour. But if Julia finds out first she will want to prove Mr.Roberts wrong and maybe get Ian,Oswald and herself in trouble.
How would Ian, Oswald and Julia get in trouble? Also if Julia knows then she could combine her research and Ian's research to make a huge argument which could potentially be in results of stopping uniforms.
DeleteThis comment has been removed by the author.
ReplyDelete1) I think that he might be thinking that if he tells Julia before Mr. Roberts she might start accusing him for supporting child labour. He might also think that if he does this by him self Julia might not stop being mad at him. Maybe, Mr. Roberts will get second thoughts about the uniforms when Ian tells him about the brand. Or Mr. Roberts can Be one of those people who supports child labour. I think this because in the book it says that Mr. Roberts always notices everything that happens in the school and finds out about every thing students do. if he is like this, how come he did not notice about the brand in the uniforms? Or Ian might not tell Julia because he doesn't want to talk with her at the moment because she will start telling him that she was right all the time and that he should have listened to her.
ReplyDeleteOswald and Ian did not even know about the uniform being a part of child labour so how would Julia accuse them for supporting child labour? And of course Julia would get mad if she does not know about it before they tell Mr.Roberts. She would be more mad that she did not know about it. I got really confused since you got extremely side tracked and you did not really explain well for the question. You only said that Mr.Roberts might change his mind.
Deleteshe would accuse Mr. Roberts
Delete1. Ian and Oswald are rushing to Mr.Roberts before telling Julia, because as of that time Ian and Julia had a argument, so Ian most likely does not want to talk to Julia. Also Ian does not really care about the uniforms but when he found out about the uniforms he got shocked and now he is very sure that he is going to tell Mr.Roberts. If Julia found out about the uniform then she will most likely get even angry and cause a ruckus. I personally think that Ian is doing the right thing by not telling Julia about the uniform.
ReplyDeleteIf Ian doesn't tell Julia don't you think mr.roberts won't do anything because Julia is the person who always stands up and if Ian tries to argue he might not care at last like before.
Delete2. No it is not a good idea for Ian to not tell Julia about the symbol in the coat pocket, because if he tells her she will try to stop mr.Roberts from making them wear uniforms and that is a good thing because children under the age of 10 made them and it won't be good if they wear the clothes innocent kids made. If they wear uniforms it would kind of show that they support child labour but if they don't wear it then it shows that they do not support child labour. I think Ian should tell Julia about the symbol in the coat pocket so something can be done!!
ReplyDelete1. I think Ian is rushing to Mr.roberts with Oswald because he wants to show the symbol on the uniform jacket and what the symbol stands for.
ReplyDeleteThat is not the question. The question is why is Ian and Oswald not telling Julia.
Delete2) I think that this is a good idea for Ian to not tell Julia about the symbol on the coat pocket so that she can't make a huge deal out of it and tell the whole school. What Ian is thinking is that as soon as Julia knows about this, she would create a ruckus and probably tell whole school would know by the end of the day, which would probably make Me. Roberts upset and annoyed. If he is annoyed he probably won't listen to him, which is why it would be a good thing to not tell Julia. If I was Ian i would also not tell Julia as I understand that she wants to help but without knowing it, she just might ruin which is not something I would want so I would be better off without telling her.
ReplyDeleteI think Mr. Roberts will not do any thing about it or he say just because it is made in a sweet shop doesn't men we don't still use it and he will probably make a reference to something like you still where Nike shows right
ReplyDeleteI think that Ian would tell Mr. Roberts before telling Julia because if he would tell Julia she might take a drastic step that can lead her to a big argument saying why they should be not used in school and getting other students to hate it too. This can turn into a big argument which would or can lead their school a big mess. If Julia gets the information it can make her go insane and would do anything to convince everybody that uniforms should not be worn.
ReplyDelete2. Is it a good idea for Ian to not tell Julia about the symbol in the coat pocket?
ReplyDeleteI personally do think it's a good idea because she is going rant about how she was correct that uniforms are bad and useless. Also she might want to cause commotion to prove Mr.Roberts was wrong. Another reason I think it's a good idea that Ian doesn't tell her is that she might make a bigger problem out of it then it already is
1.I think that Ian is rushing with Oswald to go tell Mr. Roberts because he knows that if he tells Julia she will use this to her advantage to putting a stop to the uniforms, and he thinks that since Mr. Roberts is his social justice teacher he will think it is wrong so he thinks that Mr. Roberts will put a stop to it himself!!!
ReplyDelete2. Yes I think it is a good idea for Ian to tell Julia about the symbol in the coat pocket because Julia doesn't know about the symbol and if she did she might make a plan that could take away the opportunity of having no uniforms.
ReplyDeleteI like your idea but you need to give more details
Delete2) I think that it is a good idea for In not to tell Julia because she won't care about the fact that it is child labor, she will care because this is a way to put a stop to the uniforms.

ReplyDelete3. What do you think Mr. Roberts is going to do when Ian reveals that the company that makes the school uniforms is one of the worlds worst offenders for Children's rights and child labour?
ReplyDeleteEven though Mr.Robert is a man of his word I think he will remove the uniform policy when he finds out that the company is one of the biggest offenders to children's rights and child labour. But I also think he might keep the uniform policy but change the company the school is receiving the uniforms from. One that is not known for using child labour.
2) Yes and No. It was good because, if he told her she would start accusing him for supporting child labour and making them support it to by making them wear the uniform with the brand. It was also a good idea because if she would start accuse him she might go a little to far and call him bad stuff. And in the book it said that last time she did that she got suspended. So, Ian might just try not to get her into trouble. It would have been a bad idea not to tell her, too. If he would have told her not to make a big deal out of it and to stay calm before he told her about it, she might have stayed calm. She is also someone that could do something about itbecause she is the school president.
ReplyDelete3. I don't think mr.roberts is going to do anything because the students describe him very strict and mean so I'm guessing that mr.roberts will keep the uniforms with the school because I don't think he would go through all the trouble into rethinking his choice.
ReplyDelete3) I think that when Ian tells Mr. Roberts he won't be surprised because need I remind you that Mr. Roberts is a social justice teacher so he probably already knows about this but doesn't care because he gets what he wants the most UNIFORMS!!!
ReplyDelete3) I think that when Ian tells Mr. Roberts he won't be surprised because need I remind you that Mr. Roberts is a social justice teacher so he probably already knows about this but doesn't care because he gets what he wants the most UNIFORMS!!!
ReplyDelete2. Yes, I personally think that Not telling Julia about the symbol on the coat is a good idea. I think this because, the moment Julia finds out she will go nuts and most likely she will do something wrong. She will get more pissed and frustrated. She hates child labour and uniforms which will get her really angry.
ReplyDelete3. I think that Mr.Roberts will take this topic into consideration and he might just forget about uniforms. He teaches Social Justice, so he will understands what going through to get those uniforms. If he does not and Julia from finds out then there will be big arguments.
ReplyDelete3) I think that Mr. Roberts will either chose to let the students wear what ever they want again. Or he might just chose another school uniform to wear. I think this because in the book it said that they were going to wear uniform to encourage other schools to wear uniforms.
ReplyDelete2) I think that telling Julia is a good idea after all because even if she goes crazy she would at least send a message about child labour on how is it bad. Sending the message can communicate with others on how children are sewing clothes when they should be in school with us. Telling Julia can make defiantly take a stand on how uniform should not be used.
ReplyDelete1.) Ian is rushing with Oswald to Mr. Roberts before telling Julia is because if Ian tells Julia before telling Mr.Roberts she would go to Mr.Roberts and tell him and they would start fighting. s it is better that Ian tells Mr. Roberts first and then tells Julia . And if Ian tells Mr.Roberts first maybe they can plan thing out first.
ReplyDelete3. I do not think mr.Roberts will do anything because since they are the uniforms for the kids he should obviously check them and see if they are the right amount and if they are damaged from anywhere and while checking that he most likely did see the symbol but didn't do anything about it. If Ian does tell mr.roberts it's not like he will not make the kids wear uniform. TO BE CONTINUED...
ReplyDelete1) Ian was rushing with Oswald to tell Mr. Roberts instead of telling Julia because he might have thought that Julia would get angry because firstly she would hate that she worked very had to go against Mr. Roberts and now all her effort went down the drain and Ian wasted her time. The main thing that would make Julia angry is that's she might think Ian lied to her by saying that he didn't find anything to contradict Mr. Roberts for his opinion on uniforms. Julia is already angry at Ian for not finding a idea. And if she finds out that Ian never told her she would get upset and start a big chaos.
ReplyDelete2) I think it was a bad idea for Ian to not tell Julia because sooner or later, she will know that Ian told Mr. Roberts about the uniforms and that will get Ian into a whole lot of trouble. She would think that Ian is a liar and he didn't want her to know about it. It's because when Julia asked Ian if he found something, he said no. If she finds out that Ian has been hiding it from her for a while, that might take away the trust which Julia had in him. Not only that but if he told Julia, Mr. Roberts might've changed his opinion upon uniforms and that might reduce the amount of work which the poor children do.
ReplyDelete3) I think that mr.roberts will forget the idea of bringing uniforms to their school. I say this because he has been showing child labor videos and that tells me that he cares about child labor, so, he might stop. Or maybe he will tell the school about it and have a vote on if they should have uniforms, dress codes or wear anything they want to wear
