Summer School - Reflection

Hey Team you finally finished the summer school program!

At Summer School we did a variety of activities. Heads up and pyramid, problem solving and writing prompts,  we covered a lot in the past few weeks. Being an interactive class we were always on twitter challenges and blogging. But having fun didn't mean we left out competition, star wars stickers and the championship belt were always ready to go out. Although, now we've come to the end and everyone will probably go out with new experiences. Share these new experiences and open up your thoughts.

1. What is the most interesting thing you learned? why?

2. What skills will you continue to apply and develop on your own?

3. Would you recommend this program to a friend? Why?

  2. The most interesting thing that i learned was maths. It's maths because maths is a very difficult subject so you have to learn and gain many ideas and add it to your idea. And unfortunately i was able to gain many ways of solving maths words problems so that is why i am saying maths is the interesting thing i learned this summer schoolo

  3. 1.most interesting thing that i learned at summer school was some parts of math work and photography. Why? because example: the algebraic expression problems which we did they might be grade 8 or grade 9 ones,so since i didn't the grade 9 and grade 8 math problems but we still did the problems, it was an interesting journey doing something new. Also for photography: apps like snap seed, pic frame etc i learned some new techniques to edit a photo and make a pic not simple but maybe more enthusiastic and something which would someone attract to the photo.

  4. 3.In my opinion i would recommend this summer school program to my friend. Why? because staying at home just watching T.V and sleep you won't learn something new by just being lazy and tired for no reason. But if you go to summer school you would learn something new and which might relate to your next grade, education and it might be related to your future. so if you go to school for 1 month of your summer you would be ahead from your destiny well not really but still you have an idea what's going to happen in your next grade and next year. so it's an good idea to go to these kinds of programs, learn something spectacular, brand new!

The most interesting thing I learned was, learning how to edit pictures!!! It was interesting because it was fun to take the pictures and then to choose what you were going to use to edit it!!!!!!!!!!!!

  8. The most important thing I have learned during my summer school is algebraic expressions. Before i have used the easy way as i could find the answer in the question. Using the technique can now help me without having trouble because during the next years the answer wont be in the problem anymore. I have also learned photography on how to tune the image in to make a better image than before.

  10. 1. The most interesting thing i have learned in summer school is taking pictures from different angels. Before i used to take pictures from one angel and the main item was always in the middle of the picture and i learned to always have the main item on one of the intersecting lines and to take pictures from different angels.

  11. 1. the most interesting thing i learned is the photography and editing the photography because i think its really cool how we can just change the picture however we want with the given options. I learned the different apps we can use to edit photography and make it look cool.

  12. 3. Would you recommend this program to a friend? Why?

No I wouldn't because if I recommended this to my friends it wouldn't be my fun secret anymore it would be boring!!!!

  16. 2. I liked to play heads up a lot but it requires a lot of mental math so i will focus on upgrading my mental math to a higher level and that will also help in other math situations.

  17. 2. The skills i will apply and develop on my own are math. In math it seemed easier doing problem solving questions in summer school than before. I could continue doing it so i will have less trouble in math.

  18. 3. Yes, i would recommend this program to a friend because if my friend likes photography or math or english this might help her and she will also have fun while learning.

  20. 3. YES. I would absolutely recommend this program to a friend because it is so much fun. to learn all this cool stuff and I would love to tell my friends about this. There is just so much to learn and so much fun games we could play and learn at the same time.

  21. #1: The most interesting thing I learned has got to be blogging. It's not really an everyday skill that you would learn like math or language, but it is a new skill, an interesting skill that I wish to do soon. Blogging with my peers gives me a chance to interact and criticize their work comment and express what I feel about it.

  22. #2: The skills that i would apply and focus on would be picture taking. I learned how to take pictures and edit it without making it look edited. I want to work on that skill, some people are better than me at that kind of skill. So I want to work at it, and make sure that it looks amazing.

The most interesting thing that I learned in summer school would definitely be photography. Which is a skill I had never thought that I would do, but ended up being quite fun to do and also enjoyable. And I guess editing videos and pictures also tie into this which requires a bit of creativity to make your picture really stand out

  24. #3: YES!!!! OF COURSE I WOULD!!! This program for summer school was AMAZING! I could have never had a better experience. In case I am in Mr.Cheney's class for grade 8 I know what skills are going to come towards me and, I want other people to experience how to take pictures, blogging, math, language, and even get some star-wars stickers! It would be really amazing to see other kids learning the same skills that I did.

  26. #2. What skills will you continue to apply and develop on your own?
I would like to apply and develop 2 certain skills more, these being mental math and photography. Taking photos and editing them and what not is a fun task to do. As mental math would be with me for almost any situation. Whether your in school, buying or selling things and a bunch more things that mental math helps with.

  27. 3. The skills which i would keep on applying and focus more is on math work and math problem solving questions. Why? because in this year's summer school i been doing some math work independently so i would really keep on doing that so i won't have any trouble in math. I used to have trouble in math but after this summer school the math work which we did I'm going to keep on practicing so i could get more higher marks and i won't have a hard time doing questions especially the math problems! so these are the skills which i would keep applying and have more focus into it.

  29. 1) The most interesting thing I learned, would probably be photography. Well I already knew some of the basics of photography, but I got lots of more experienced in it as I learned, the way to get the best edit is to do multiple edits, if you overlap text in the right way, the picture would look fantastic, and I learned how to get natural blurs in picture which was amazing.

  30. 1- The most interesting thing I learned was editing. I did not really know how to edit pictures using a mobile device but now I know how. It was pretty awesome learning with Mr.Cheney since he taught everyone a few neat tricks that I did not know before. But after summer school, I now know most about editing and how to blur and how to make a picture look real even with editing the picture.

  33. The most interesting thing that I learned at summer school would have to be photography. I didn't really know much about photography but now I know how to add text, which apps to use to edit, how to take good pictures using the grid. These were things that I didn't know coming into summer school but now I have a better understanding of it.Thanks Mr.Cheney!

  34. 2) There are 2 skills that I would continue to develop and apply in my life which are Photography and Algebra. I would develop photography because it is just so fun and interesting that you would never get bored doing it, unless you do it all day. On the other hand, I am good in Algebra but not excellent and this is a skill which we use in our daily life which is why I would enjoy to practice and develop it.

  35. 2- The skills that I would continue to develop and apply in my life is the Photography and the Algebra. I would want to learn more about photography because it is cool. Taking pictures from good angles has a huge effect on what you do so I would like to perfect it by learning more and developing more photography skills. I would also use algebra because as Mr.Cheney said, we could use algebra in practically any math problem if you are good in algebra. So we could use that to make everything more easy and we could do questions within seconds.

  36. I think the skills that I will try to develop on is probably photography because it's fun and exciting. It doesn't really seem like work. Another skill I would work on would be my algebra because we use it probably in every strand of math

  37. What is the most interesting thing you learned? Why?
The most interesting thing I learned in summer school was photography (editing, taking photos and adding text). I liked it since it was enjoyable. I also found out new things, like, taking photos from a different angle. I had fun using new apps like snapseed, picframe, etc.

  38. I would recommend it because it's just half a day and you get to keep your brain sharp doing the summer. Also it's fun and exciting instead of staying at home and laying in bed using your phone. You can get outside a bit and do other things with your day.

  39. 3- I would probably recommend this to a friend because this session of summer school was GREAT! People are interested in technology because it is cool and this is the first summer school experience in which we had access to most modern technology. We learned about how to make technology into a learning experience so at the same time we liked it, we learned. Also we did a lot of fun activities related to learning such as heads up and pyramid which was fun and at the same time, a learning experience.

  40. Yes I would recommend this program to a friend as they would just love it. Nowadays most people are interested in technology and different ways to make it productive which is exactly what we did in this program. In the program, along with some other things, we had lots of technology such as photography and blogging which was quite intriguing and informative. Other fun activities which are great in the program are Heads Ups, in which I was champion once, and Pyramid, which I was champion of for all of Summer school.

  44. 2. The skill that I would use to continue my learning with is the expressions. The expressions can help because during grade 8 or 9 the solution would not be seen in the problem easily.

  46. 1. The most interesting I learned in summer school with mr.cheney was to use technology in a right way that teaches us new ways to learn. We used photography to learn lessons in math. I also learned that working as a team is always superior because in the steam project we had difficulties in controlling our focus and being efficient.

  47. 2. I am always into technologies that are new and i will use the skill that mr.cheney thought that always discover something new and utilize it so i will use my technology to go into diverse worlds like photography and video editing. This will help me get ready for grade 8 and help me keep up with the world because technology never stops.

  48. 3. Yes i would recommend this program to my friends since they would absolutely have a blast. Now days we all have tablets computers and other technologies but we never use them right kids and teens play games on it while parents are into Instagram and social media stuff. In this program kids and teens can learn how to use the same technology in their pockets to teach them new stuff in eucation.

  49. What skills will you continue to apply and develop on your own?
I have two skills which I'd like to continue to apply and develop on my own. These two, are my math and photography skills. Photography is fun and interesting, it will be useful when I am bored and tired. On the other hand, math would math would come in my way many times, so, practicing math would make some of my jobs easier.

  50. the most interesting thing I learned from summer school is that the internet can be used in a lot of ways and that it can be better than using note books. This was interesting for me because I like to use the internet a lot but now I have learned how to use it in other ways than before.
