Welcome to the Blogging experience! Blogging is a wonderful and productive way for students to work, share and discuss topics in class. The blog will be used to discus our novel "The Cheat" and also be a online bulletin board to share work finished in class.

If you are new or old to blogging it doesn't matter! Get going, get involved and get busy learning.

Summer School - Reflection

Hey Team you finally finished the summer school program!

At Summer School we did a variety of activities. Heads up and pyramid, problem solving and writing prompts,  we covered a lot in the past few weeks. Being an interactive class we were always on twitter challenges and blogging. But having fun didn't mean we left out competition, star wars stickers and the championship belt were always ready to go out. Although, now we've come to the end and everyone will probably go out with new experiences. Share these new experiences and open up your thoughts.

1. What is the most interesting thing you learned? why?

2. What skills will you continue to apply and develop on your own?

3. Would you recommend this program to a friend? Why?

Math Posters

Math Posters and Gallery Walk

What we did

1. Math Writing Prompt
"Is math your favourite subject? why or why not?"
Students collaborated in small groups and noted down their main points.   After table talk the class wrote their response in their math journals.  Later each table went around  the class to see their peers' work and explore similarities and differences.

2. Group Problem Solving
After writing we formed groups and dove into problem solving.  Each group rotated around stations solving different style math problems.

3. Creation of Math Problem Solving Posters:
After this writing and problem solving experience we set off to creat motivational and helpful math problem solving posters.

So

Welcome to our online Math Problem Solving Poster exhibit.

In this post you will see an array of constructed posters by the grade 8/7 summer school split class.

The students were introduced to photography and worked on using composition, colour saturation, contrast, and tilt shift focus to construct an enticing photo.

Using the application OVER the students then added a specific quote to go with the photo to make a poster that is a motivational guide to problem solving.

Browse and comment on these tremendous creations.

The pictures are listed below and categorized

Look at the photos and then comment specifically about 5 of them in the appropriate area

Comment on the effectiveness of the poster as a Math Problem Solving guide

Is the quote helpful?

Is the photo and quote a good combination?

How is the quality and creativity of the photo?

these are all things that can be commented on

We want to be positive and encouraging but at the same time provide feedback that will lead to improvement next time.

Uniform - What Do You Think !?

Hey Team.  The issue of school Uniform is one you all can relate too, as Beaumonde Heights was once a uniform school but still has a regulated dress code.  Our novel study this summer is Branded by Eric Walters, you've also read the story on uniform policy, and with your own personal experience reflect on these when answering the questions below about school uniform.

Make a separate post for each question you answer

Write well structure and thoughtful responses, use evidence, quote significant people, use powerful vocabulary

Respond with 2 other students to formulate some dialogue and back and forth conversation

1. What do you think are the 3 most important benefits of wearing uniform.  List them in order and justify each pick.

2. If Beaumonde Heights became a uniform school this September what would you do ?

3. What is absolutely the worst thing about wearing school uniforms? Be specific and find sources to support your position
