Hey Team we are getting to the climax of the story. Sarah has taken blame for the cheating scheme but has refused to give up where she got the test from.
Predict what is going to happen next to one of the following situations:
Will Sarah remain suspended?
Will Jake confess?
Will Rob tell his parents?
What type of punishment will Dan get?
What will Katie do to convince Sarah she did not rat her out?

I think that jake will turn him self in because he thought of him self as a coward to go into the office and asked Sarah not to tell on him.

ReplyDeleteI don't think Jake will confess after what happened after he gave Sarah the answers for the midterm. After Jake gave the answers to Sarah she gave them to everyone else and Jake found out about it and I think Jake thinks he's been used by Sarah, also for the fact that he has a huge crush on Sarah so after she told everyone else the answers Jake is not going to confess. After all Sarah took the blame on the test and she is not going to confess , I don't think Sarah or Jake will confess even if they get suspended. Jake is the one who started it by giving the answers to Sarah so I think later in the book Sarah will blame it on Jake eventually so Jake won't have to confess for himself.
Then he'll go tell mr.chen that he gave her the test papers and he is going to take the punishment instead of Sarah

DeleteI predict that rob will try not to tell his parents,but near the end of the book they will eventually find out.I would say this because when the principal gave the midterm exam to rob saying cheated in big bold letters he had told him to sign it and rob was going to forge their signatures but then Mr Chen told him that they all had to get the midterm exam signed and the school had to receive a phone call from his parents.I think that rob will probably get another adult to call the school and he wil eventually forge the signatures.

it's obvious to me that Rob won't tell his parents because he was mortified at the thought of Chen calling his father and telling him about cheating.
Dan's mother already said what his punishment will be, no music, video games, or outings like his girlfriends' sister's wedding. If he screws up once then he's off whatever sports team he's on and is going into permanent grounding.
I believe Katie is going to tell Sarah that logically none of them, including herself, could've told Chen or Mr. White that they had last year's test answers because none of them knew that they were last year's test answers.
Will Jake confess?
ReplyDeleteI think Jake will no confess because he hasn't really been in most of the chapters and the situation is mostly focused on Sarah, Rob and Dan. So it would most likely be one of them to confess rather than Jake confessing.

Than Jake might gett suspended for giving last years answers, so Sarah will be able to come back to school. In the text it says that Sarah is givin more time to think about if she wants to tell the truth or not. So basically Sarah or Sarah's mother will convince or force sarah to tell the truth cause neither sarah nor her mother want to sarah to be suspended ofr ever. NO sarah will not remain suspended.
I honestly think that Sarah wont remain suspended for long but wont snitch on Jake because she probably is more mad at Katie than Jake about this situation. I think Jake will turn himself in at the end because he has a crush on Sarah so he wants to seem like a hero.

Her resolve is obviously strong enough not to tell. She won't tell.

ReplyDeleteIn my opinion, Rob wouldn't tell his parents. In Rob's perspective, Rob explained that his father was very strict. When Rob was called down to the office, he feared that Mr.Chen would call his parents and tell them about cheating his midterm. I predict that Rob wouldn't tell his parents, because of the fear of getting himself into trouble. Instead of telling his parents, Rob get someone else to frame as his parents (ex. Older Sibling,Guardian...) He can frame his parents signature, and get someone to act as his parent on the phone call with Mr.Chen. Another possibility is in the text, Rob never mention anything about his mom. Maybe Rob's mom is more easier on him than his dad. He may find a way to get his mom to sign and talk to Mr.Chen without letting his dad know.

Linda, we read the book yesterday, Rob says he can forged his parents signatures. Besides, even if a couple is married, they don`t necessarily tell every single thing about what`s going on. I mean like if you had a best friend in a way, you wouldn`t tell them every single thing would you? And if his Rob mother is dead, wouldnt have Rob mention it? ReplyDeleteSince from the point that Sarah recieved the answers from Jake, she's been using him, I think now Jake won't confess and he'll get a bit of revenge. Jake feels that he's being used and knows it as well so now that Sarah's caught into this and he's not even pointed out (even though he started it), kind of like revenge, he will let Sarah suffer throughout. Even if Sarah gets to have a chance to reveal the truth before she remains suspended for a longer time, Jake won't put himself for the blame.
But Jake begged her not to tell on him so he probably trusts her and got over the fact that she is using him

He really cant do anything. He's going to have to suffer with the consequence either way so might as well just tell your yourself rather than having the principal call home to tell our parents. I think its better for him to confess him self then having the school call home because maybe the parents might be a bit less upset when he tells rather than the school calling.
i agree its better he tell his parents so they wont get shocked when the pricipal calls his parents and he might face more consequences if he lies to his parents that nothing happened in the school so i think its better he tells his parents on his own.

But then at the same time, Jake is afraid of the consequences, he may not confess to his parents, he could find a plan to get himself out of this cheat scheme. But he is taking the chances of probably getting himself into deeper trouble if he did.

ReplyDeleteIn my opinion I don't think he will tell his parents about what happened.
I see Rob as a boy with a complex life. His mom and dad are still living together but that connection between them two is gone. The father and mother have created their own two separate bubbles to live in. With work and much more on their hands Rob doesn't get any time with them , and his dad is well focused in making money and supporting the family, there is no "man to man time" together and that just led to not knowing much about each other which creates a disconnect especially being the only child . Robs dad has no time for foolishness and Robs dad will certainly be embarrassed knowing his own son cheated. Robs dad seems to have a bit of an anger issue as the fear of Rob rises seeing Dan's mum walk through those door, then Sarah's ,he knew his parents were next , he would beg and plead to not call his house but to do chores like cleaning the school up. This is what I see when I hear Robs name in the book.
As a student we all find it best not to tell our parents, if they don't know about anything.. what's the need to tell them? Its best to stay out of trouble then lead to getting into trouble Right? In the book Rob describes his father is a bit stern amongst issues such as this. His father doesn't seem to be a calm and quite handleable person; otherwise Rob wouldn't have been in so much fear of one telephone call home.
But in my opinion one way or another word will spread around and reach to Rob's parents. These days people tend to have something we all call "big mouths". Once one person figures something out the rest will eventually. So Dan's mom already knows about this certain issue and I'm certain she will try to get Dan's name out of this because of what she had done with Mr.Chen , so she will "discuss" this with the other parents who's children were involved. As most of us already know, our parents aren't quite filmier with the context "tattle tale" or "snitch". To them its discussing a certain issue that needs to be solved. In my opinion if Rob doesn't tell his parents it would create nothing but a bigger mess than it was before.

Mabye your right, although Rob is afraid of his dad. Couldn't Rob just approach his Mom instead? The way how you explain it, it sounds as if Rob does tell his father, Mabye his father not over react as Rob thought he would. Maybe Rob dad would start to realize that, he hasn't been paying attention to his son lately. He may start giving Rob that "man to man time".

ReplyDeletei dont really think rob will tell the truth to his parents insetaed he will try to hide it and he is hiding the truth.he was cool when mr.chen gave him the test but when mr.chen told him that he had to get it signed and his parents have to call the school thats when he was stuck.he thought he could get the test signed but he cant tell his parents to call the school he wont take the risk.i think instead he will tell someone else to call the school.but at the end his parents will find out and he will be in big trouble.

I think that Katie will go talk to Sarah to convince that she didn't rat her out by preclaiming that they both are really good friends and would never even think about ratting her out like that.
